My name is Makiko Nakagawa. And I am a Japanese calligrapher.

My speciality is creating works using ancient Japanese hieroglyphics Shodo( Japanese calligraphy)

is the traditional art form of drawing the Japanese language with a brush(fude) and ink(sumi)

The simple beauty of hand brushed lines has inspired my country's culture

and the world for more than 3,300years.

The characters(kanji)representations are difficult to translate for even

the most studious historian.

My area of expertise is reforming these traditional hieroglyphics from their original form into modern interpretive works of art.
